Next-Gen Games We're Getting
« on: August 26, 2006, 08:56:14 pm »
I was just curious about which next-gen games people are planning on buying. Because of course, we don't have enough opinions of Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft and their respective software licenses.

I'll start off with my list.

Nintendo DS
Star Fox: Command
Final Fantasy III
Custom Robo Arena
Panzer Tactics DS
Dragon Quest Monsters:Joker

Nintendo Wii
Metroid Prime:Corruption
Sonic and the Secret of the Rings
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Trauma Center:Second Opinion
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Monkey Ball:Bannana Blitz
Elebits
The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess (though low in priority)

XBox 360
Dead Rising
Sonic 06
Banjo-Threeie

Playstation 3
The one that doesn't suck and isn't for the 360.

So far, the only things I plan to get are Star Fox: Command for the DS (I have a reserve, but I get it on the 29th because I'm on the east coast), and, if I do end up getting an Xbox360, Sonic 06.

Well, like I said, this is what I want for 360:
Sonic 06 (obviously) 8|
Quake 4
Project Gotham Racing 3
Call of Duty 2
Bomberman Act Zero
Armored Core 4
Sega Rally Revo

I could get a PSP for Sonic Rivals, and if I do I might as well pick up Ridge Racer.

I could get a Wii, maybe hand it to my nephew, that way I can also play Sonic and the Secret of the Rings. But I'm not feeling any pressure. Though if I get it, I could get a bunch of titles for the kid, like SSBB and Excite Truck and Mario Galaxy, and cool multiplayer stuff he can play with his little friends. And maybe Zelda *GASP* ... well... maybe not Zelda. >:P

I don't think I want a DS and Sonic Rush anymore.

No PS3 for me.

Also, it appears I need Command & Conquer 3. (Remember Command & Conquer? Well it's BACK!!! oh shit oh shit) But I don't know what system I'd get it for. If there is justice in the game industry, it would come out on Wii, but it looks as if it's going to be available only on PC and Xbox 360.

Even if C&C3 came out on Wii I might get it on PC/360 anyway, but DAMN IT, the Wii controller deserves C&C and C&C3 deserves being used with a Wiimote.

My newest game systems are the gamecube and regular GBA.. :x However, if I were to get a new game system, it would likely be a DS or a ps3/xbox 360, jsut because I've never owned a sony or microsoft system before. I guess I'll get soem of the better rated games for the ds.. and sonic 06 for the 360/ps3?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metroid Prime:Corruption

PS3
Sonic 06 (maybe)
Metal Gear Solid 4
MotorStorm

PC
Crysis (this will be the most awesomest game ever - FACT)
C&C3
Loads more as and when the whim takes me

Sonic and the Secret of the Rings is a great name. It sounds serious and episodal. Am I the only one was annoyed before about Sonic naming scheme? It was always the word Sonic + an irrelevant tag word. Sonic Jam, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Rush, Sonic Heroes, etc.. Wild Fire was going to continue on this trend, but they turned that around. That's not bad, it's /good/.

What's so great about Crysis? I actually don't know much about this game. I have to go look it up, excuse me.

Revolution (That's not out-of-date. Cool is what it is.):

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (though maybe I'll get it for GCN instead)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (unless my friend gets it, and it turns out that there still isn't enough 1P game)

Sonic and the Secret of the Rings (unless it turns out to be such garbage that even I don't want it (I probably know even less than everyone else)... it can be done right, but it can be terrible instead)

Sonic 06 (They'll port it eventually. If they don't... THEY DIE! And then I'll wait 50 years and get a 360 or PS3 for $10.)

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Super Mario Galaxy (If it turns out to be a bit of a disappointment, I won't really want it, but someone will end up getting the game for me...)

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz? (maybe... don't know much about it, though)

Animal Crossing? When was that announced?

F-Zero (It's bound to come sometime in the next 5 years.)

Eh.
If i ever get a Next Gen system.
I had a hard enough time affording my gcn and xbox on my own.
let alone friggin 400 bucks for a 360.
But if i do id probably get a wii just for the metroid series.
And of course a 360 for the sonic games.
Probably halo3 too.

If you're having problems buying systems on your own, then become the next Fatal1ty. I'd pick a popular and easy to master game such as Halo 2 (if you can stand the awful gameplay and fps-ness), Soul Calibur Anything, Super Smash Bros Melee, or so on. Melee tournaments have huge pots (moreso than you would expect) and are easy to win if you, say, sabotage your opponent's controller. Or pick Jigglypuff and just use the jump+punch technique to stall the match to at least a tie. Or just don't suck.

There's also the possibility of...(warning, contents may be offensive to gaming purists, highlight at own risk) selling your old games and systems. The games I can understand, but if you're getting a backwards compatable system next-gen, then why keep the old one if not getting rid of it will prevent you from getting the new system which can also play the old games?

Either way, good luck to you, the new new guy.

Also Marth, I think that Animal Crossing was announced last E3. Before then, it was just sort of speculative.

If we're talking about future licenses too, then count me in on Pikmin 3. And Paper Mario 3. And Final Fantasy:The one for Wii that isn't crap. And some other games that I'm not thinking of right now. Future games to be added to my original post.

RPG you total noob you forgot to list anything

Also knowing that Sonic Rivals is not on any system I plan on getting allows me to sleep at night. If it were for, say, the DS, I know that I would eventually get it and prove to myself that I am a consumer whore.
